    FAQ

    Q: How do I cook a lobster?
A: Bring 5 inches of water to boil in a large pot. Add three tablespoons of Sea Salt, and some seaweed (if available). Add any other garnishes you prefer, onions, carrots, old bay, celery or beer. Let the water and garnish boil for 5 mins. Add 4 1 ½ lb lobsters. Put the lid on and bring the water back to a boil. Cook 7-8 minutes at a full boil. Let the lobsters rest out of the pot for 2-3 minutes before devouring them! Add another 2 minutes for each additional 1 ½ lb lobsters, though it is better to cook no more than four at time. If you are cooking 1 ¾ or 2 lb increase cooking time to 10 minutes. For soft-shell or shedders, decrease cooking time to 6 minutes and 1 minute for each additional lobster.

    Q: Do lobsters feel pain?
A: No, they do not have a complex nervous system that processes pain. When a lobster is steamed it does not scream, any noise is steam escaping from its shell.

Q: Where do you get your lobsters?
A: We get our lobsters from numerous sources in Maine, generally on the coast from Kennebunk to Portland.

    Q: Do I need a reservation?
A: No, but if we are running low, we make sure that we hold lobsters for those folks that have reserved. We only take reservations of ten lobsters or more.

    Q: How can I pay?
A: We take cash and credit cards at the pound. Cash only at other venues.

Q: Can I eat at the Pound?
A: We are not a restaurant, we are a traditional Maine-style market with casual dining.. We have an indoor picnic table area at the Pound where you can enjoy lobster, lobster rolls and our other yummy menu items (along with hot dogs for the non-lobster eating kids!) opening in early June.

    Q: When are you open?

A: Our Winter hours are Tues Wed Thurs 12-7, Friday and Saturday 12-9, Sunday 12-7.

    Q: Do you deliver?

A: We deliver Tuesday-Friday from 12-4 to Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. $100.00 minimum.
